Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers

Features

  • High thermal efficiency in a compact footprint

  • Vacuum brazed stainless steel plates offer excellent durability

  • Available in single-wall and double-wall configurations

  • Options for single or dual circuit flow

  • Wide range of connection, mounting, and code compliance options

The Brazepak series is well suited for industrial, HVAC and commercial hydronic systems, especially when space and weight are constraints. Common uses include:

  • Refrigerant condensers and evaporators

  • Heat recovery and economisers

  • Oil, water and gas cooling

  • Desuperheaters and subcoolers

  • HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, and other thermal systems

Construction & Materials.

  • Plates: 316L stainless steel

  • Brazing: copper (standard), with optional nickel braze variants

  • Solid, integral vacuum-brazed construction avoids gaskets or joints between plates, minimizing leakage risk

Double-Wall Variant (BPDW).

  • True double-wall construction throughout the plate and port regions

  • Built-in air-vent paths for leak detection and fluid isolation

Capacity & Flow.

  • Maximum flow rates up to ~ 800 GPM

  • Surface areas up to ~ 365 sq ft (or ~ 1100 sq ft in special configurations)

Sustainability.

  • High efficiency hydraulics
  • 100% recyclable cardboard packaging
  • Quick start guide provided with the product
  • Online installation and operation manual

Benefits.

  • Lightweight, compact, and space-efficient

  • Low fluid inventory and rapid thermal response

  • High tolerance to pressure and temperature cycles

  • No gaskets or joints between fluid paths — lower leak risk

  • Suitable for demanding thermal loads and tight installations

Technical Specifications & Design Highlights

Compact & Efficient Design
The Corrugated plate geometry produces high heat transfer coefficients, enabling a much smaller exchanger versus shell & tube designs:

  • ~ 1/6 the size

  • ~ 1/5 the weight

  • Requires ~ 1/8 the fluid volume

  • Uses ~ 1/3 to 1/5 of the surface area of equivalent shell & tube units

Frequently Asked Questions

What fluids can Brazepak heat exchangers handle?

They are suitable for water, glycol, oil, refrigerants, and other compatible fluids. Nickel-brazed models are available for more aggressive media.

Double-wall models provide an additional safety barrier. If a leak occurs, fluids are vented externally rather than mixing, making them ideal for potable water or safety-critical systems.

Yes. Brazepak units deliver the same duty in a much smaller footprint, with lower weight and reduced fluid volume requirements.
